In order to deepen the cooperation in the field of architecture between the mainland and Hong Kong, China, build the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with high quality, and jointly promote the construction of the ‘Belt and Road’, the ‘2024 Mainland and Hong Kong Architecture Forum’ was successfully held in Guangzhou on March 26-27, 2024. The forum was hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and co-organized by the Architectural Society of China, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, and the Guangdong Provincial Engineering Survey and Design Industry Association. Dean Fan Yue of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Shenzhen University, a distinguished professor, and Mr. Lu Dawen, Managing Director of Hong Kong Hui Chuang International Architectural Design Co., Ltd., were invited to attend and co-host the sub-forum of the ‘2024 Mainland and Hong Kong Architecture Forum’.
The sub-forum ‘Architectural, Landscape Design and Urban Planning Experience Exchange Meeting’ was addressed by Mr. Cao Jiaming, Vice Chairman of the Architectural Society of China, Mr. Cai Ying, former first-level inspector of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and Mr. Chen Zebin, President of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects. The forum successively invited six well-known architects and expert scholars active in the mainland and Hong Kong, China, to give keynote speeches and roundtable dialogues around the three major topics of ‘Architectural Design Market and Professional Practice’, ‘Garden Design Technology Development’, and ‘Opportunities for Hong Kong Urban Planning in the Greater Bay Area’. This ‘Architectural, Landscape Design and Urban Planning Experience Exchange Meeting’ has built a bridge for information exchange between the mainland and Hong Kong’s architectural industry, and has also contributed to the transformation and upgrading and high-quality development of the architectural industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
