The academic organization of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning (SAUP), SZU always implements the core value of university-industry cooperation. The faculty of SAUP attempts to integrate teaching, research and practice into one coordinated system. SAUP utilizes the resources and potentials of SUADRI (Shenzhen University Architectural Design and Research Institute) and SUUPD (Shenzhen University Urban Planning and Design Institute). It transform and test the research results through different approaches. The cooperation between university and industry not only promotes the innovation of SAUP’s research divisions, but also contributes to the design teaching of SAUP.

Based on the development of past 37 years, SAUP has developed broad disciplines within four departments: the Department of Architecture, the Department of Urban and Rural Planning, the Department of Landscape Architecture, and the Department of Urban Informatics. The structure of teaching system in SAUP includes Bachelor, Master, doctoral programs, and post-doctoral research. SAUP offers the doctoral program of Architecture, the Master programs of Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning and Urban Informatics. SAUP has one first-level doctoral programs, one post-doctoral research center, two first-level Master programs and one second-level Master program. The majors of Architecture and Urban Planning have been accredited by National Board of Architectural Accreditation of China (NBAA) and rewarded as national top-level undergraduate majors in 2019.

Based on the four departments, SAUP attempts to integrate teaching, research, and practice into one coordinated system. It could be unfolded in four levels:

Leading Laboratories: Led by the key laboratories of Guangdong and Shenzhen, with support of professional academician team and research team. The scientific research platform has covered all first-level and second-level disciplines of the college, and is conducive to interdisciplinary research.

Teaching Experiment Centers: It includes Digital Technology Laboratory, Model Building and Construction Laboratory, Architecture Physics and Urban Environment Laboratory, Low-Carbon City and Architecture Energy-saving Laboratory, Virtual Simulation Laboratory.

Architectural Practice Centers: It consists of two first-level institutes: Shenzhen University Architectural Design and Research Institute, Shenzhen University Urban Planning and Design Institute.

Academic Media Platform：A bilingual journal World Architecture Review was founded in 1983 and issued by SAUP. This journal has established stable academic and exchange platform with world-wide architectural information.
