On January 10, 2025, the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Shenzhen University held a ceremony to appoint Academician Gao Weijun as a visiting professor and an academic lecture in the A103 lecture hall. The meeting was chaired by Dean Fan Yue and attended by Vice President Li Yonghua, with the special invitation of Academician Gao Weijun, a foreign member of the Japan Academy of Engineering and a professor at Kitakyushu City University. Professor Gao gave a lecture titled "Urban Planning and Sustainable Architecture from an Interdisciplinary Perspective" to the faculty and students present.

In her opening remarks, Professor Fan Yue highlighted Professor Gao's achievements in areas such as low-carbon buildings and smart buildings, and expressed that Professor Gao's research direction is highly consistent with the academic practice of the college, expecting him to bring academic vitality to the college. Vice President Li Yonghua reviewed the historical development of Shenzhen University, especially the achievements of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning in the field of low-carbon buildings, affirmed the significance of the appointment of Academician Gao to the international exchanges of the university, and emphasized the broad prospects of Shenzhen in the research of low-carbon buildings and sustainable development.
At the appointment ceremony, Vice President Li and Dean Fan jointly presented the appointment letter to Academician Gao, who thanked Shenzhen University for its warm invitation and looked forward to future in-depth cooperation to promote urban planning and sustainable building development.

Professor Gao's lecture explored the close relationship between urban planning and sustainable architecture from an interdisciplinary perspective, shared research findings in areas such as environmental architecture, circular architecture, and smart architecture, and looked forward to the future development of these areas. Academician Gao pointed out that with the acceleration of climate change and urbanization, interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation are key to solving the problems of architecture and sustainable urban development.

After the lecture, President Fan summed up the lecture and expressed expectations for cooperation between Shenzhen University and Qingdao University of Technology in the field of green buildings. During the discussion session, the young faculty members discussed topics such as the utilization of green energy, Marine buildings and the development of smart buildings.
The event not only enhanced the academic atmosphere of the college, but also provided an opportunity for teachers and students to interact with international scholars, further consolidating Shenzhen University's position in the field of international architecture and urban planning, and laying the foundation for promoting academic innovation and international cooperation.
