Building Contemporary China RIBA China Architects Exhibition
Shenzhen Exhibition and Liuxiandong Cloud City 10th anniversary Development Forum
In September 2023, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) invited 11 renowned Chinese architects to visit London and organized the ‘Building Contemporary China’ themed exhibition to enhance academic exchanges between Chinese and British architects and showcase the development of contemporary architectural practice in China. The participating architects included three academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Cui Kai, Meng Jianmin, and Wang Jianguo, national master of engineering survey and design Zhou Kai, as well as renowned architects Liu Jiajun, Li Xiangbei, Ren Lizhi, Li Li, Dong Gong, Bo Hongtao, and Meng Fanhao. Their representative works covered contemporary architectural creations in different regions and environments. After the first exhibition in the UK and Tianjin, China, this exhibition will come to the south, hosted by the School of Architecture and Urban Planning and the Original Design Research Center at Shenzhen University. In addition to the roundtable discussion activities of the exhibition representatives, the academic discussion section also set up a parallel thematic academic seminar on ‘Cloud City Ten Years’ hosted by ‘World Architecture Guide’, where multiple guests will explore the experimental and innovative development of contemporary urban and architectural development in Shenzhen.
