In the course of the rapid development of the construction industry in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, the architects of Shenzhen University have always played the role of pioneers and companions in the construction of the Special Economic Zone. As Shenzhen University and Shenzhen University's Department of Architecture celebrate their 40th anniversary, World Architecture magazine, which enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad, launched the "Shenzhen University Architects Scholars" album in May 2023, focusing on Shenzhen University architecture alumni who have certain academic achievements and influence in the construction industry. Dean Fan Yue served as the academic planner of the journal group, and four alumni, Zhang Zhiyang, Zhong Zhong, Zhang Jianyu and Chen Zetao, served as academic conveners.

After preliminary preparation and various solicitation, registration and selection, the college and "World Architecture" magazine jointly identified 36 alumni representatives. Its main body is a practicing architect, covering teaching and research, public design and real estate management, curatorial public welfare communication and other fields. The architects introduced by this journal are: Duan Jingyang, Zhang Zhiyang, Zhu Xiaofeng, Chen Ying, Qiu Xiaoqiang, Zhong Zhong, Chen Shouheng, Huang Jianfeng, Zhang Jianyu, Zhong Qiao, Chen Weihang, Wang He, Ling Zheng, Zhu Hongjing, Zhang Zhenzhou, Tian Jinghui, Shi Guoping, Zhu Xiongyi + Wang Guangming, Chen Zetao, Zeng Guansheng, Pan Yumin, Wen Huizhen, Yang Zhenyuan, Li Yuanqin, Zhong Botao, Su Jinlefu, Yang Jili + Bai Yan, Luo Zhihang, Cai Ruiding, Zhang Bo + Wang Jingjing, Huang Zhonghan, Liu Tengjia, Cao Kaizhong.

In the selection of works, this journal selected 21 practical cases from nearly 100 outstanding alumni works, such as Baidu International Building, Pudong New Area Youth Activity Center, and Minnan Grand Theater. The above works include super high-rise buildings and cultural landmarks, involving rural construction and landscape sketches, and also expand to exploratory fields such as urban public space research and structural material experiments. In addition, the journal also specially invited Zhu Xiaofeng, the host architect of Shanshuixiu Architects, and more than 10 teachers of the Department of Architecture of Shenzhen University, including Zhong Botao and Qi Yi, to jointly write 6 special articles from the perspectives of department start-up, industry-university integration, international exchanges, and cross-border practice, recalling the history of the architecture profession and looking forward to the future of the development of the discipline.

In the past 40 years of development, the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Shenzhen University has been keeping pace with the high-speed construction of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and the Pilot Demonstration Zone of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, and has cultivated a large number of outstanding talents rooted in urban and rural areas to serve the construction industry. The architecture scholars of Shenzhen University show both practical and experimental characteristics, which not only present personal practice and academic ideas, but also have a lasting and positive interaction with architectural education. The planning, composition and publication of this "Shenzhen University Architectural Scholars" album is a collective tribute to all practitioners and participants of Shenzhen University architectural education. The fundamental goal of university education is to educate people. Shenzhen University Architecture Education will continue to uphold the concept of openness and experimentation, and cultivate more outstanding talents for the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and urban and rural areas in China.
