Atsushi Omatsu graduated from the Department of Architecture at the University of Tokyo in 1983 and subsequently joined Nikken Sekkei. He has held various important positions and was promoted to President in 2021. Under his leadership, Nikken Sekkei has expanded from traditional architectural design to urban design, proposing a core concept of a "social environmental design platform" to contribute diverse solutions to the modern social environment from a more macro perspective.
As the President of Nikken Sekkei, Atsushi Omatsu has led and promoted several large-scale development projects with far-reaching impacts, such as Tokyo Midtown Roppongi, Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, Tokyo Station Yaesu Development, and Shibuya Urban Renewal. He has transcended the limitations of mere architectural design, maintaining a holistic view and striving to balance social needs with innovative design concepts, practicing the core design philosophy of "solving social needs through design, thereby creating new needs".
Globally, he has actively promoted the international development of the company's business, leading several iconic planning projects in China, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. At the same time, he has conducted forward-looking research and practice in areas such as energy conservation and emission reduction, eco-friendly design, and biophilic design, contributing to carbon neutrality and sustainable development through actual projects.

The projects he leads span the globe, infusing a unique temperament that combines modernity and tradition, and significantly enhancing Nikken Sekkei's reputation in the international fields of urban planning and architectural design.
